Hi, brand new user looking for Briefcase alternative and watched the 2-way tutorial. Also looked through the forum and while there are several close matches, did not see an exact match on the first couple pages of my searches...

Was somewhat surprised the tutorial used a memory stick to copy files from the source, then again to copy files to the target.

Since I have gigabit ethernet for my internal LAN, isn't there a better way? Since it's Windows 10, I'm guessing not, since there are permissions out the wazoo for each/every file/folder I'd want to keep in sync. Thanks!

EDIT: I should clarify - I view the tutorial as a backup/restore operation, not a sync - files are backed up to some repository, whether it be on a thumb drive, the cloud, or a zipfile with read/write sharing between the two computers. I was looking for a direct sync from my desktop to my laptop.

Depends what you want to sync. You could share the location you want to sync over the network and be sure to create a user account on the sharing machine that you give access to that folder. Then you use that user account to map it on the other device
