Sync keeps going into a loop

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help with an issue I am having.

I have a one-way mirror sync set up to mirror files on a network drive (QNAP NAS) to an internal HDD.

The issue is, when the sync is being performed, it will attempt to create a file on the internal HDD and then keeps looping, so the file never gets created (the progress just keeps jumping back and starting again). This does not happen on any particular file, and does usually not happen straight away (the last time it happened, it was the 5th file being sync'd).

On the most recent occasion, I paused the sync for about 10 minutes, then continued, and it successfully completed the sync.

Any idea what could be causing this?

I have already set my HDDs to not go sleep in the power options. I cannot see anything in the logs, because no error shows and the sync doesn't finish, it just loops, so no log file is created.

Thanks in advance.

Managed to get an error code, does this explain at all:
"ERROR_NOT_READY: The device is not ready. [CopyFileEx]"

That doesn't make sense... Are you using RealTimeSync or just FreeFileSync?
If just FFS, sounds like the connection to the NAS or HDD is spotty

I'm not sure what you mean?

I am using RTS, but RTS triggers FFS to do the sync (using a batch file), no?

I don't seem to have any issues accessing the files on the HDD or NAS, but yes, could be a connection issue...

You are correct in how it works, I was just trying to see whether RTS was looping or FFS. Sounds like FFS fails and retries a bunch of times. What if you change the number of retry attempts and re-save the config?

The issue is, it doesn't fail... There is no error and the sync doesn't stop and retry.. It just keeps looping mid-way... I have to kill the process via task manager for it to stop, or just pause it.
