At least in the FFS Windows version, SMB seems to be the default protocol.
You can simply type
\\192.168.1.50\test (Windows notation using backslashes)
in the drag&drop field and FFS will access the network resource using the SMB protocol.

I guess the author did not want to design a function that Microsoft had already designed for him, thereby avoiding the risk of being held liable (or the like) for any loopholes in password management ...
