11.14, Win7.
Cannot 'Exclude temporarily' (Space key) a Directory (tree) if said directory (already) exists on the right hand side.
As it is, the directory name is a "virtual" (if you will) name, with the name "floating" as you scroll down the list.
You can select individual or a group of file names & they will be (temporarily) excluded as expected.
But you cannot exclude an entire directory tree - in an easy manner.
If said directory does not exist on the right hand side, you can select the directory name itself & that selects the directory & everything below, automatically.
I believe this is a behavior change (for the worse, IMO.)
1. Nirsoft, directory
2. Nirsoft\OLD, subdirectory to Nirsoft, exists on the Right
3. Nirstoft\X, subdirectory to Nirsoft, does not exist on the Right
So...
After my scan, say I didn't want to sync \Nirsoft\.* at all, before (with older versions of FFS), I would select \Nirsoft\ entry, & that would highlight Nirsoft & Nirsoft\OLD & Nirsoft\X, totally, Hit the Space bar & that entire tree is excluded (temporarily).
In this particular case, I wanted to exclude \OLD\.
Since there is an existing \OLD\ on the right, \OLD\ is not displayed as a directory entry (unto itself), so there is no (easy) way to exclude \OLD\, entirely. (Instead, I'd have to select the first \OLD\ filename, scroll down - a lot, then select the final \OLD\ filename to accomplish the same. Far less convenient.)
Now, the \X\ directory entry, as it does not (already) exist on the Right, I can select that (in a straight forward manner), which highlights everything in that tree, & prune it in one fell swoop.
.
(This was the time before, [Resolved] Cannot Exclude Temporarily Topmost Directory Tree, but I believe was I describe in this current post is different.)

Are you not able to select that directory on the right side and hit spacebar to exclude it?

I don't think the behavior is any different compared to older FFS versions. None of the items in the list shown are directories, they're all files, with the exception of directory "X" on the third screenshot. Still it's possible to select the parent directory by right-clicking on the folder icon.

I didn't think to try that. Are you not able to select that directory on the right side and hit spacebar to exclude it?
But that acts the same as hitting Space while a filename is selected (so you're only excluding a single file).
Correct.None of the items in the list shown are directories, they're all files, with the exception of directory "X" on the third screenshot.
But, & I might be wrong, seems to me, in the past, the directory name itself would be "persistent" in addition to the file names, so a Space on the directory name was sufficient.
Ah, OK, that works.it's possible to select the parent directory by right-clicking on the folder icon
I'll just note that in a case of something like, Nirsoft\OLD, you'll note that when you hover Nirsoft, nothing happens, but when you hover OLD, it is bracketed. And in order for the expect (context-menu) 'Exclude temporarily' to work, you actually need to be hovering OLD (itself).
Thanks.

Just kind of bumping, cause this just threw me again (& it might help me remember ;-)).And in order for the expect (context-menu) 'Exclude temporarily' to work, you actually need to be hovering [OLD] (itself) [rather then the 'Nirsoft' part of, '[Nirsoft]\OLD'.
(Unsure if there were a more recent change, now at 11.29, that made this "crop up" again for me?)
