SFTP Start Fast and than slows down

I'm synchronizing a remote folder to local with sftp, It starts fast 15 MB/sec after a while goes to 10 b/sec. So what was supposed to do in 4 hours at starts become several years...

I use Mirror mode hiding errors from a MAC OS 10.11.6 (very old) with FFS 11.16

Any suggestion?

From web server (linux) with millions of files to MAC

What does Activity Manager look like? What kind of drive is in the Mac?

Nothing special, CPU around 90% on 8 core (it means around 10%) and 10GB of RAM free, seems that the MAC is not doing that great job. The drive was not case-sensitive, I have reformatted on OSX Extended case-sensitive to be aligned to the linux one.
