TL;DR Compare returns nothing.
I just upgraded to FFS Version 11.17 [Donation Edition] ARM64 02/04/2022. And ever since, Compare has return nothing, zero, zilch. It completes the scan but nothing appears on my screen.
I'm trying to do an Update Sync from an iMac (connected by WiFi) to a new MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) w/ a M1 Max chip, 32 GB RAM, and 2 TB storage.
Originally, I ran it on a large job and got no results. Then I pared it down for a test. The iMac has a folder, ~/Applications (i.e., not the standard Applications folder, but one in my home directory) containing about 107 MB in 4,087 items. So I created an empty folder at ~/Applications on the MacBook. Then I ran a compare, but nothing shows up.
What's wrong?
Compare returns no results

Have you enabled to show the proper FFS Compare results categorie(s) in the FFS GUI Main Dialog (field nr. 11)?
And what do the Compare statistics show (field nr. 12)? If it not just showing all zeros, you need to enable the visibility of the correct categories (as indicated above).

Screenshots? What if you browse to the locations to select them again?

Plerry: If I understand Field #11 correctly, it gives the options only after the compare. My compare is finding 0 items, so there are no options.
And, Field #12 does show all zeros.
xCS: This time I found another directory on the source that had no similar directory on the target. So, I created an empty version on the target. Even though the source has a non-empty directory and the target directory is empty, nothing shows up from the compare.

If a Compare has been run (and no sync based on that Compare is performed yet), field #11 will always give information: listing "Showing X of Y items" in its heading and a Select View (F11) choice and a (horizontal) icon-list for the different categories (including the number of files per category (made visible or not).
And the Statistics field #12 will show the # of bytes for the different actions.
After you have run a Sync based on a Compare, the left and right Compare result lists are normally empty, as by default only intended actions are shown there. Field #11 will now still show info: "Showing 0 of Y items", the Select View (F11) choice and a now smaller (horizontal) icon-list for the different categories, as there should be no categories left linked to an Action, as the sync has just performed the previously suggested Action, and the Statistics field #12 shows all zeros.
When you run a Compare between a left and right base location of identical content (so: not resulting in any suggested sync Actions), the Compare results window(s), including field #11 and #12, will look as described just above for "After you have run a Sync based on a Compare ..."
To make a long story short: If field #11 is completely empty, no Compare has run (yet).

Your paths are incorrect, nobody can give further advice until you post a screenshot of your FFS window

Here are some screen shots (all are redacted to preserve anonymity).
1. The source folder.
2. The target folder (note that it's not identical to the source).
3. FreeFileSync screen prior to compare.
4. FreeFileSync screen after compare.
Note the times on the FreeFileSync screen shots. They're before & after compare.

The only difference between the before and after FFS GUI screenshot is the presence of the Show Log (F4) icon at the left of Field #11.
What does the log-file tell you?
