Problem installation FFS 11.18 and Windows 11

Hello,

First of all, thank you for this fantastic program. I use it since a long time.

But my first problem comes now, i try to install FFS 11.18 on W11 , and the installation process never end. 10 minutes later, the windows saying installation in progress is still here.

I force the stop of the program, and when i start FFS the message is : install.dat is corrupted, reinstall FFS.

I tried 4 or 5 times, uninstalling, reinstalling, Re-downloading.... The 11.17 version has the same problem.

I reinstall my old version 11.16 and it works...

Someone has an idea ? Do I have to wait the 11.19 version for W11 ?

Might your antivirus be interfering?
What A/V are you using?

During this 10 minute period, is the (ffs installer) process using CPU?

I know nothing of 11, but what "version" (or update or whatever) are you using?

I use W11 21H2 and Antivirus McAfee Small business.

I tried to install disabling the antivirus (with the menu in McAfee who say : inactive during XX minutes)

And it doesn't work... i have the same screen, installation is blocked...

Then, i tried again, with the same procedure, desactivation of McAfee with the McAfee menu, AND I go in the task manager, to quickly desactivate all the other McAffee processes who are still there, even i desactivated it with software during 15 minutes... (About 3 other processes)

And miracle : the installation is OK.

So, thank you @Therube, because you make me try again about antivirus problems, even we stop process during XX minutes, McAfee block the installation with others processes still active in background.

Perhaps this can help others !

Yup, most 3rd party antivirus programs are complete junk. You should just remove it and stick with Microsoft security.
