iCloud sync to External HD with Mac

Hi,
I search about the topic, and I havent found an answer yet.

Is it possible to sync a local drive to iCloud? There seem to be a problem syncing to .iCloud file.

1. Is there any protocol permitting FFS access to the cloud file directly in Apple iCloud?
2. Is there any way that FFS would translate the .iCloud file and treat it like there was no .iCloud extension via a filter maybe?
