FFS stopped seeing Google drive contents

I have had a scheduled sync running successfully for a while and it's stopped working (no changes made by me). It's not been working since mid September, but I've only just noticed.

I am doing an update to backup files from a folder on my Google G: drive to a hard drive. I have set the Google drive folder to be available offline.

FFS has stopped seeing any files or folders in the folder. I checked using command line and DIR sees all the files.

I tried reverting to 11.24 and still see the same issue so I suspect something Google or Microsoft have done.

I've set it up this way rather than using the online storage option so that Google is fetching updates in the background and when FFS is run it is purely off the hard drives in my PC and so must faster.

Update: FFS sees the folder structure when I click the browse button but whatever directory I pick on the Google drive the left hand panel remains empty.

Are you sure they aren't already in sync, thus excluding those entries from the compare window by default?

Positive - because I spotted the problem when I found that files were not being copied.

So Google Drive isn't actually relevant here, since you are syncing a local location to a local location. What are your filter settings?

Google is totally relevant as its a folder on G: which is created by Google Drive.

The filter is the default.

I get that, but you aren't using the Google Drive feature built into FFS, so Google drive is irrelevant for the problem that is occurring. The issue is that FFS is seeing the location as empty even though there is data in it. Can you screenshot your filter settings in FFS and post it? Also, run a compare and screenshot the results and post it, even if the results are empty.

As you can see Browse can see the directory structure:

You are wrong, it is everything to do with Google Drive. G: is not a drive in a partition on the hard disk like my C: and D: drives. It is a virtual drive created by Google Drive. If Google Drive isn't running the G: drive doesn't exist.

What are your synchronization settings? Your compare window is showing that everything is in sync but that there are files in D:\ that don't exist in G:\, and it looks like your settings are set to do nothing when a file only exists on the right side. If you click that box below with the equal sign in it, you will see the data in G:\, but it is already synced to D:\

I'm using Update which copies new and changed files left to right.

The backups folder on Google just contains the last few backups (I only have the free 15GB Google drive). This sync means I keep a permanent archive of all backups on my hard disk (where I have stacks of free space). It is scheduled to run 5 minutes after logging in so I archive the backup of what I did the previous day.

Cracked it!

It needed a change to the Synchronisation settings:

The mystery is why it was working up to mid September without that option on!

Oh man! I vaguely remember another thread where some issue had the same solution and it had to do with a change the Google made. I can't find it now, glad you got it working. I wasn't quote understanding what the setup was but it makes sense now!
