It needed a change to the Synchronisation settings:

I'm using Update which copies new and changed files left to right.

You are wrong, it is everything to do with Google Drive. G: is not a drive in a partition on the hard disk like my C: and D: drives. It is a virtual drive created by Google Drive. If ...

Google is totally relevant as its a folder on G: which is created by Google Drive.

The filter is the default.

Positive - because I spotted the problem when I found that files were not being copied.

Update: FFS sees the folder structure when I click the browse button but whatever directory I pick on the Google drive the left hand panel remains empty.
