Re: Full path on destination folder as blank
Hm. I'm not sure. It might be cleaner to not show anything when a file or folder doesn't exist (= current behavior). Your screenshot only shows the left side, but the user always sees both sides, which gives the needed context.

Re: BitDefender does not allow installation of V13.5 just downloaded
Actually, it looks like the installer drops an unsigned executable installer in the appsdir temp area and tries to execute it. This executable, e.g. C:\Users\Zenju\AppData\Local\Temp\is-6B40T.tmp is properly signed. Other than that there's little one can do about this procedure. These are the shena...

Re: Creating a custom context menuitem for FreeFileSync not working in Linux. How to get it working?
In my test, Kubuntu was using dash. Yes, kompare is definitely in the path, so I'm not sure why it's not working within FreeFileSync. This might or might not be true. But it can be tested as follows: Add a new context menu option in FreeFileSync, give it some name e.g. "env" and the follow...

I wasn't able to test on Mint, but FWIW your command line does work on Kubuntu.

Re: BitDefender does not allow installation of V13.5 just downloaded
Most likely it's bothered by the fact that InnoSetup calls itself via an executable disguised as a tmp file in order to delay elevation. The AV signature is only a "Generic": https://freefilesync.org/faq.php#virus

Fixed for the next version. It's a wxWidgets bug in their WAV file parsing.

It's probably 15 years since I last needed to restore deleted files. Back in the day "GetDataBack for NTFS" was the only tool that worked for me.

Re: Recover from RecycleBin_tmp
Recycle Bin deletion in FreeFileSync works as follows: Instead of moving one file after another to the Windows Recycle Bin (which would be dog slow), FreeFileSync moves all these files to a temporary directory during sync (e.g. RecycleBin~5b04.ffs_tmp). Just before the end of the sync, the files *in...

Showing real name and surname in the FreeFileSync Donation Edition is deliberate and a form of copy protection. This information not shared with anyone, unless you share it.

Re: Cannot RDP after sync in progress: Business Edition
In case you're allowing RDP to use UDP, I'd suggest blocking it in the firewall and going TCP-only, alternatively: https://winaero.com/microsoft-has-confirmed-the-bug-with-udp-in-rdp-on-windows-11-22h2/ Microsoft's homebrew UDP implementation seems to be repeatedly buggy and the unreliability isn't ...

Re: Feature request - Always include folder pair in log file
There's an inconsistency in the code that skips the "synchronizing folder pair message" when there's nothing to do for a folder pair, except when the DB file needs to be saved. Arguably the message should be skipped in the later case too, when no files will be synced. Especially when using...

Re: "Both sides have changed" problems with backups
> Why does FreeFileSync show that both files have changed? Because the file-ID of both the left- and right-side file has changed compared to what it was at the end of the previous sync, as stored in the left-, respectively right-side database file. It's not the file ID that FFS is checking in this ...

Re: Mirroring bug (?) related to FileTimeTolerance
Your problem may be self-inflicted. > I have set FileTimeTolerance to 0 ... I tend to agree with Plerry here. The reason you're seeing a 1 second file time difference is (most likely) because the underlying file system is lacking precision. https://freefilesync.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1183#p5178 ...

Re: "Both sides have changed" problems with backups
My question is 2 fold. 1) why does ffs do this when nothing has actually changed? The file on the target side obviously *has* changed. Whether this is a problem, or not, only you know. If you don't care that changed files on the target side will be overritten, you could tell the program that by sli...

Re: Directory/folder availability check
Just some clarifications: There is no such thing as "not all files/folders are seen" without also an error indication, in which case FFS will fail syncing these items and not delete from the target. The more likely case is that you (the user) are making a mistake and accidentally deleting ...
