Re: Creating batches
I see that now. What seems to have happened is that batch building has been integrated into the non-batch mode, unlike before. You can actually build and run batches ad hoc.
Playing with it a bit more, I found another way. I had saved a couple settings, one for each folder pair. They're listed on ...

Creating batches
I feel like this is a really stupid question, but the Help topic is super vague, and other related information I've seen on the web seems to apply to a different version, which has an "Advanced" menu. My version has no such menu.

Re: Error 183
Just for thoroughness, I want to list three things that did change between before and now. None of them seem to me like they should matter, but in case there's more than meets the eye and something triggers an idea, I list them here.
1. On both source and destination machines, folder options were ...

Re: Error 183
OK, this is frustrating. I finally had time to do thorough documentation... and the error disappeared. Like the noise in your car that doesn't happen at the mechanics shop. Only you're not making it up. <sigh>

Re: Error 183
I have no idea whether that directory exists. I certainly didn't create it, and there's no reason for it to exist prior to FFS running. The ".ffs_tmp" in the name makes me assume that it's a temporary directory that FFS creates itself. When I look around, I don't see such a directory.

Re: Error 183
OK, this is odd. Last night when mirroring, I had three albums and three 'folder.jpg' complaints. This morning I re-did the mirroring to get the error message, and, surprisingly, it had more stuff to copy. Nothing has changed from last night - if there was more to copy, why didn't it do so last ...
Re: Error 183
Sure. It's attached.
Re: Error 183
A bit more info. After the mirror operation is complete, it lists the files on the left that it had trouble with. It *seems* like I can copy them over just fine then, manually. Not totally sure that's what's happening because it's kind of cryptic. But if I can copy them over manually, then why can't ...
Error 183
I'm mirroring music from one computer to another. For every album, I get an Error 183 (cannot create a file when that file already exists) on the folder.jpg file. There's nothing specific that I'm doing to create this error (is there?); there seems to be something about the way it's copying that ...

Re: Directory write issue (not the one already documented)
But it was working until it was interrupted. So something changed from the start of the sync to the attempt to restart. That's why it seems that FFS would have had some impact on what changed.
At this point, if there's no solution, I simply have to conclude that FFS isn't useful for the regular ...

Re: Directory write issue (not the one already documented)
OK. There's a documented issue where, when you try to sync, you get an error "can't write sync file" or something similar. The instructions there are either to say "Ignore" and check "do this every time" (which I did) or change some advanced setting (and there's a link that's broken; I couldn't ...

Directory write issue (not the one already documented)
Sorry for a double-post - I'm still finding my way around here and didn't realize there's a specific separate "Help" forum. As it turns out, my original post was in "Open Discussion."
