Re: Local copy from SFTP server for external program (e.g. WinMerge)

Great! It really works great, and transparent.
One suggestion, mark the local copy as read-only, so WinMerge (and others) give a warning when writing to changes to a temporary copy, that would be lost otherwise.

Great work and thanks for the swift implementation,

Kind Regards,

Re: not syncing well using SFTP with freeFTPd

It seems to be able to list folders with a >'< sign in the name. In another test it could be, that it is stopping on a file with only an extension (e.g. >.project<). There didn't seem any other abnormal characters around the stops.
(And it was not close to be processing some of the files with more ...

Re: Easy to use and setup whole disk SFTP for FreeFileSync

I've recently found Bitvise SSH-server (free for non-comercial use), and it seems to work perfectly with FreeFileSync. It was also rather easy to setup.
Hope this helps someone.

Local copy from SFTP server for external program (e.g. WinMerge)

But external programs such as WinMerge can't cope with SFTP links.
Actually it generate links like: D:\data\sftp://192.168.....
Is it possible for FreeFileSync to make a local copy of the file, so external ...

Re: Sync directory over internet

Wouldn't this be a nice case for the SFTP connection ability of FreeFileSync?

Easy to use and setup whole disk SFTP for FreeFileSync

Hi All,

What are my options to sync my disk over SFTP with respect to the server programs?
I've tried freeFTPd, although it was easy to setup, it won't play nice with FreeFileSync.

Re: not syncing well using SFTP with freeFTPd

Hi,

I retried with FreeFileSync 8.0, and the problem still persists.

Is there another way I can help solve this problem? (I'm not a programmer)

Re: not syncing well using SFTP with freeFTPd

Hi,
Thanks for your quick response, and sorry for my delayed one (Sourceforge didn't sent me a e-mail on your reply :S).

These are the steps I took to setup FreeFTPd:
- (Download: http://www.freesshd.com/?ctt=download)
- Installed freeFTPd
- Disabled FTP & Enabled SFTP
- (Hostkey) I generated both ...

not syncing well using SFTP with freeFTPd

Hi All,

I'm trying to sync to data disks via SFTP using freeFTPd.
Although I can correctly browse all folders using Winscp, FreeFileSync (7.8) only seems to see only a few files.
I.e. the remote side is almost empty, and FreeFileSync thinks it needs to transfer almost all files to the remote side ...
