We will have to agree to disagree on what constitutes a backup. When I copy files to an external device (more than one, actually) then disconnect it after the process completes, I am satisfied I have a backup. I have used it to recover inadvertently deleted files successfully. I don't ask for more.

Other than Microsoft arrogance, there is nothing wrong with Windows 10.

For whatever reason, the problem has disappeared. I did switch to mirroring, which is less satisfactory than 2-way, but I now have a backup.

Nothing has been done to disrupt the computer except, potentially, installation of Dragon Naturally Speaking. That didn't seem to break anything. Everything I use other than FFS works fine.

I installed 12.2, deleted all paths and filters, re-entered all paths, then restarted. FFS still does not work as expected because it no longer shadow copies even when Run As Administrator. That means important files are not backed.

Three days ago FreeFileSync stopped working. It starts as usual "Run by Administrator." However, when COMPARE is run, no new files are found in the specified folders, even though many files have been generated during the day. Two-way SYNCHRONIZE appears to run, but there are no files to sync. I am ...

OK.... But a logical and rational methodology would be far more useful and usable. EXCLUDE and INCLUDE should be in reference to the source folder/directory. However, I will try the right-click method and hope it works as described. Thanks.

Excluding "C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\..." does not work. How do I get this to work or how do I get the error message eliminated?

I found my problem. I just had to have the correct settings to permit shadow copying. Apparently, when I installed the most recent update, it destroyed my previous settings.

Files "outlook data file.nst" & "outlook.pst" coped fine in previous versions of FreeFileSync run as administrator, but they do not copy with version 10.22. Why?

I used Revo Uninstaller to remove FFS (except for references to "Donation Edition"). Then I re-installed FFS 10.21. When I started 10.21, it indicated 10.22 was available and I permitted an auto-update, which appears to have been successful. I think I am back in business.

Neither Retry nor Ignore worked. I've updated FreeFileSync many times without errors. Now I have lost my backup software.

I received a notification that version 10.21 was available. As typical, I said go ahead and update. The update failed. Now I cannot use the software. I have not yet tried a clean re-install, that is, one where I remove what is on the PC and start over. I suspect that would also remove my Donation ...
