OK, I have just delved into FFS and see that there is a way to automate syncs. That said, I haven't initiated that so still don't see how this is happening. The particular job is over 50gb of data. So, even as I delete it it starts the job again on the thumb drive.

What have you setup to automate syncs? By default FFS doesn't setup any automated syncs. And if you plug in a USB drive and it gets assigned E: by windows of course a backup would go to it also.
