Re: Backing up my C drive
Fair enough, but the folder structure is preserved inside an image file. At least it is with Terabyte.

Re: Backing up my C drive
Assuming that you really do want to backup your entire C drive then I would say that FFS is not the correct tool for the job. Really you want something that creates a (single) file that is referred to as a (drive) ' image ' file. So you would do well to research that and consider if it is more in li...

Re: 10.14 Donation Edition setup will not run
I have a suspicion you might be trying to install FFS from within the zip archive itself (you can't do that). You need to unpack both the installer and the 'key' file that are contained in the zip file. The key file, once unpacked, needs to be in the same folder that you run the unpacked installer f...

Re: Problems to eject USB Stick after synchonization
You're lucky you only have to wait a minute. For the problem of not being able to dismount the stick during the first minute you could try using Hotswap! and see if you have better luck with that. I use it all the time now as in the past it would successfully dismount a USB stick when Windows (in my...

Re: When the sync ends, make an action
It is not clear if On Succes also includes return code 1: "Synchronization completed with warnings" Yes, that was the kind of (after-) thought I had when reading your method -- it offers the user a bit more control because return code can indicate conditions that the "On Success"...

I'm puzzled, Plerry. If I look at the options for Synchronisation Settings > "Run a command:" one of the options in the drop-down there is "On Success:" Or am I reading that all wrong? EDIT: P.S. On reading the information from the link you provide I can see why the method you po...

https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings Basically: (1) Select one of your synchronisation files. (2) Press the F8 key and synchronisation settings for that synchronisation job will open up. (3) Look to the bottom right of that dialogue window you will see an item titled &q...

Re: Directional Folder Sync
Basically it looks like you need multiple tasks but you can set them up in such a way that they are executed, one after the other, via a single sync operation. You could tinker with this by using this tip and setting up appropriate individual comparison, filters and sync settings for each task etc.:...

Feature Request: Allow a [replicate] variable for the right-side path
Got this idea from a recent post in the Help section of the forums. Say you want to setup a situation in which you want end up with the following right-side folder: Left-side = c:\users\fred\documents\directorytobackup Right-side = d:\documents\users\fred\documents\directorytobackup However, you wan...

Re: How to set synchronization paths
Ah, I see. For (a) and (b) taken in combination, as far as I'm aware you can't do what you want to do. You must define a full path for the right-side into which to place the files/folders from the left-side. (If I've got that wrong maybe someone else with more expertise could correct.) For (c) If by...

Set the left-side to c:\users\fred\documents\directorytobackup Set the right-side to d:\documents\users\fred\documents\directorytobackup Note that if the directory path d:\documents\users\fred\documents\directorytobackup does not already exist FFS will give a warning at the beginning of the sync but...

Re: files in FFS don't match what I have in explorer
OK, I guess what I'm seeing is that FFS only shows files that are different between the two folders. Files that are exactly the same size, content and date are not shown. Is this correct? Broadly, yes. Try this: (1) Run a comparison. (2) Now look carefully at the very bottom of the FFS window and y...

Mmm... 1) Use " Mirror --> " sync and make the left-side your C:\ drive and the right-side the location you want to copy the C:\ drive folders/files into (for example right-side = X:\C Partition Backup ) 2) Yes. But with a possible caveat. 3) Yes. Just run the Mirror --> sync again and cha...

As far as I know that isn't possible. Only options are: File time and size File content File size However, you are not being clear on what it is you would like to achieve. Re: Mirror Sync - Fail to Copy Left Side Newer File to Right Side
You could enter 0, but this wouldn't help in the above case since FFS is using seconds precision internally. In which case a strange thing is happening then. I changed the value to 0 and then started FFS and had it do a File Time and Size compare. It did identify the discrepancy and correctly offer...

Stavell, You're not being very clear at all on what setup you have that is causing the issue. Okay, Zenju, thanks very much for the information. Couple of questions: (1) What value would I have to enter in the XML to have FFS not use the 2 second tolerance setting (I'm guessing zero, myself but don't want to try it in case in ignorance I break something critical)? Re: Copy completed downloads in qBitorrent from 1 folder to another
I don't outright know the answer to your question for sure. However, I would think the answer is no; FFS has no means of telling if a torrent is complete or incomplete. Above said, why not try a torrent program that matches your needs. Tixati is available for Windows and Linux systems and does have ...

This is normal behaviour for FFS -- I get such warnings from time to time myself on Mirror syncs, I just select to Ignore the 'warning' and things proceed fine. However, from memory, it's been a while since I had such a warning, when the sync is completed the Configuration Pane listing shows up an a...
