V11.8 Properties Show V11.7

My install of FreeFileSync was updated this morning to version 11.8, but still being flagged by my update checker as "out of date." Checked the properties of the FreeFileSync.exe and RealTimeSync.exe and in the properties/details window both are shown as 11.7. Can this be fixed?

What is your update checker?

I use SUMo for an update checker. If I run FreeFileSync it is in fact version 11.8.

Additional question. Is there a beta version download site for FreeFileSync?

The same thing happened to me: after installing 11.8, SUMo continued to flag FreeFileSync and RealTimeSync as being out of date because their "launcher" executables in the program's parent folder were still marked as 11.7 instead of 11.8 (and dated 2021-03-01 instead of 2021-03-03). HOWEVER, all of the "target" executables in FreeFileSync's Bin subfolder bore the correct version number and date.

Per Zenju, the old 11.7 launcher executables won't get replaced with the new 11.8 ones because at least one antivirus is flagging the new ones as infected. AV vendors can take time to fix false positives, and I'm guessing more people use the offending antiviruses than use update checkers, so I understand why Zenju resorted to this workaround. (Better to have a few people scratching their heads over a version false-positive than a lot of people freaking out about a virus false-positive, right?)

The solution for SUMo users? After checking to confirm that the EXE files in FreeFileSync's Bin subfolder are up to date (version 11.8.0.0 dated 2021-03-03) — or, if you're lazy, after launching FreeFileSync's GUI and doing Help > About to check the version number — right-click on the FreeFileSync and RealTimeSync entries in SUMo and do "Skip this update … for ever" (not "Ignore"!). SUMo will stop reporting that FreeFileSync and RealTimeSync are out of date until the next version of FreeFileSync is released.

Thanks for the very detailed response. Is it a big issue, of course not. Its just that in this era of Covid sequestering and isolation, there is little left to do other than spend endless hours on solutions in search of problems. I just wanted to make the developers aware. And I've done the "Skip this update" thing in SUMo many times. I'll await version 11.9.
