Freefile sync bitdefender infected

Just updated freefilesync to version 11.8 but now getting errors from virus scanner -says infected and moved to quarantine
Now get boot up error from bitdefender saying having to clean system

the updated signature is blocking install completely now

it's detecting "FreeFileSync.exe" in the installer temp files

Seems like our AI overlords did not accept the FFS 11.8 offering.
Whatever. Just re-released and bundled with the 11.7 launcher. I have no time for this AV nonsense.

PS: *No code changes* at all between 11.7 and 11.8 for this file. Only an update to the latest Visual Studio 16.9 that released a few days ago...

I already submitted it as a f/p sample as soon as i saw it but dunno when they'll ever get around to it.

@zenju Just upgraded to FFS 13.0 and BitDefender is flagging it as infected The file C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\FreeFileSync.exe is infected with Gen:Suspicious.Cloud.4.Pu2@aOOawQji and was moved to quarantine. It is recommended that you run a System Scan to make sure your system is clean.

Same issue here. It's probably indeed infected on the server side. Better stick with version 12 until this is resolved.

You should not be so gullible to believe everything your (cheap?) anti virus software reports:

Definitely, I'm paying for that AV and it's not cheap. Same as I paid for FreeFileSync, btw. So I hope this is resolved soon. It's really unfortunate.

There is nothing to resolve from FreeFileSync's side. You could contact your AV software vendor and report a false-positive detection.

It seems that the problem is already solved by the Bitdefender services. I just tried to install the version 13 and I did not encountered any problem. So it works now.

I hope that when I launch version 13 I will discover a "Dark Mode" button :D
