I am interested as well on this question. Looking at the link, it seems like the donation version is for private use...What options do companies have in terms of support? It is a great product but for commercial use, more support/features including parallelism is needed

I did see all that, but there has been a change to the donation version from what I remember some time ago regarding the number of installs. I know it says no commercial version on the website, but since other programs do have a form of paid commercial version, sometimes hidden from plain sight, I was wondering if that was the case here, although it does appears not. I should have been more clear in my question.

The question is, what do companies want to receive in return for the money they pay?
If it is dedicated support, then that's not something I'm offering now or in the forseeable future.

Speaking for myself, I am happy to have support just from the forum. Just would like to use the donation version on servers that I support.

I would say companies will need a peace of mind that not adware or advertising is added to their paid version. The software only does what it is intended to do (replicate/synchronize) files. I have tried the software and it is very good even with unreliable connections.

So, I am allowed to use the download version commercially. If I (as a business) donate, I cannot use the version that is offered to people who donate -- [1] I'm curious: why is that?
[2] Do you give a receipt for a donation?

1) Will he know if you use it in a commercial environment and hunt you down? Probably not. It's that way so he has no obligation to support and warranty. So, I am allowed to use the download version commercially. 2) Whatever you get when you donate is it. I have a Paypal transaction from when I did mine

It wasn't possible before, but now that FreeFileSync 13 has just released, there is finally a version that can be licensed and used by businesses: https://freefilesync.org/business

Old situation:
New situation:Is FreeFileSync free for commercial use?
Yes, FreeFileSync may be used in business, commercial, and government environments without cost. This however does not apply to the "FreeFileSync Donation Edition" which is intended for private use only.
I summarized how it was stated before in the FAQ and how it is stated now in the FAQ to make things more clear :) . The standard version was free to use commercially and now it is not.Is FreeFileSync free for commercial use?
No, the standard version of FreeFileSync is intended for private use only. The same applies to the FreeFileSync Donation Edition.
Businesses may still use FreeFileSync for commercial purposes, but are required to buy the FreeFileSync Business Edition.
