Can I use FreeFileSync to create a backup without erasing an external drive?

I have an external drive with files that I want to keep on there. Can I use FreeFileSync to create a backup of my Mac internal drive onto my external drive without impacting any of the files that are already on my external drive? For example, doing a one way mirror sync, from my Mac laptop to an external hard drive, could I have the files from my Mac transferred to just a folder on the external without affecting any other data on the external?
