I am using FFS on a Windows 11 64 bit system (22H2) and backing up files to a couple of Synolgy NAS drives DSM version Version: 7.1.1-42962 Update 5
With FFS verson 12.3 all works well but I have just updated to version 12.4 and FFS is now broken. I get the massages as follows
Cannot write file "\\NAS_01\From F\sync.ffs_lock".
ERROR_WRITE_PROTECT: The media is write protected. [CreateFile]
When I uninstalled 12.4 and went back to 12.3 all was OK. Reinstalled 12.4 - broken
I have now tried having both 12.3 and 12.4 on the PC at the same time (different folders of course) 12.3 works 12.4 does not. None of the files on the NAS drives are write protected. Same problem with both NAS drives.
I assume this is a bug in 12.4 but any thoughts would be welcome.

Puzzling. There hasn't been a change for sync.ff_lock. Perhaps AV software is messing things up yet again? A comparison of Process Monitor traces could give a clue: https://freefilesync.org/faq.php#trace

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried again with the AV disabled (Avast free) and get the same results. I also have looked at Process Monitor but am not sure how to use it. I tried the filter reset (Control R) but just got many hundreds of thousands of events scrolling past the window. I cannot see how to set it for FFS only. Can that be done?. As you may guess I am not a computer expert.

I have just tried copying some files between two internal drives on the computer using 12.4. FFS works with no problem.
