Hello. Today has been a very long day.
I accidentally made a mirror from the wrong temp partition to the depository partition and all my files were deleted from the depository partition.
I recovered the folders and files using Disk Drill and I can see the folders with their files and their correct file names and size but when I try to open the files it tells me the file is corrupt or that I do not have permission.
All folders and files recovered from the depository partition are under a parent folder with the name (recycle bin ~b9f6.ffs_tmp)
I have a feeling that it is all about the permissions that I cannot get around.
This is the message I get when I try to open a word file:
Word experienced an error trying to open the file
Try these suggestions.
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
* Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.
Hope I can get a solution.
A monetary reward for Helping me recover my files

Have you tried Partition Magic to recover the partition itself?

Is not "PartitionMagic" a couple decades, old?
So then, what is "Partition Magic"?
What type of files? Any files you can look at to visually confirm accuracy thereof?

And what is there to think that the files were recovered - properly, in a meaningful manner?I recovered the folders and files ... and I can see the folders with their files and their correct file names and size but when I try to open the files it tells me the file is corrupt

Partition recovery won't help, the partition wasn't deleted.
I've done a fair bit of data recovery, and the way you recovered it is unlikely to produce intact files. Recovering deleted files is not as simple as some programs make it sound. The files are likely corrupt

Thanks for your reply. And what is there to think that the files were recovered - properly, in a meaningful manner?

The only thing that gave me some hope from this (first trail of recovery using DISK DRILL) is related to the following:
1/ one of the parent folders was recovered with its sub folders and the names of such files were correct .. Yet the only remaining issue and the most important one is related to the permission needed to open such files i.e DOCX, PDF, XLSX & PPTX.
2/ Also another parent folder was recovered and it is functioning with no issues at all.
Now, I am wondering if there is any recovery application that is supported by FFS that I can try and hopefully could resolve the permission issue of the recovered files.
