I just downloaded the latest version of FFS. I have a new laptop with Win 11 and an old one with Win 10. I am trying to backup a NAS drive (many terabytes) connected to my home network. The Win 11 box doesn't have an ethernet port (network connection is only WiFi) <groan>. The Win 10 box has a wired ethernet port. The Win 11 box is slooow, and I'm assuming it's because of the WiFi speed. I want to compare with the cable ethernet connection. I installed FFS on the old laptop, but couldn't "Compare" because there was a lock file (sync.ffs_lock) in the source and destination folder. THEN I went back to the new laptop and couldn't do anything there for the same reason. I found the GlobalSettings.xml file on the new laptop and changed the folder locking option to false, and it solved my problem on the new computer. Went back to the old computer (the Win 10 box) and tried to do the same thing, but I can't find the GlobalSettings.xml file. AND I can't delete the sync.ffs_lock manually. I've tried everything I can think of, and I am so frustrated I can't see straight. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This looks like it will work if I can get the performance up, and if so, I'm happy to make a donation.

For the location of the GlobalSettings.xml file, see here.

Thanks Plerry. That's my problem. The GlobalSettings.xml file isn't there. The folder is there, but no xml file (on the Win 10 box).

Be aware that the location the %AppData% variable points to is computer-user specific
