Lost my configuration files!

I recently had an error "File "D:Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync\GlobalSettings.xml" does not contain a valid configuration". After reading your forums it was suggested to re-download and re-install FreeFile Sync, which I did (ver 13.6). After installing (into the same folder) the above error message did not come up and it started. However, under configuration, only one, "[Last session]" is listed. I had about 8 different configurations, most with several directory paths each to compare /sync so do not want to lose all those configurations. Where can the old ones be found? I am attaching a screenshot of the "App Data\Roaming\FreeFileSync" directory listing. As seen in attachment, the "LastRun.ffs-gui" file from 6/13 was the last time the program had opened correctly and now it only shows the last one configuration synced on that day. Where are the others, which have been listed (and run) regularly for several years now? I did not think it was necessary to have these directory structures to sync saved in other places so am lost without them. Hopefully they can be found somewhere. Thank you.

Were you saving your sync configs to "D:Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync\" ??
If so, they are toast. You can attempt something like Recuva, which 'can' recover deleted files.

I did not specify where to save the configuration files. I only know this location because that was the path given in the error message. Where does FreeFileSync save the configuration files and what is the name they use? Also, why would FreeFileSync now delete them after a couple years, even though they were used regularly?

You chose where they were saved when you saved them, they can be anywhere as they are regular files. The "GlobalSettings.xml" file has info in it about FFS configs that are opened/listed in the FFS GUI. Two possibilities:
1) The configs you created and saved need to be 'opened' in FFS to add them back to the list. If reinstalling generated a new "GlobalSettings" file, then FFS has no idea that your configs ever existed.
2) The configs you created and saved are missing, FFS tried to find them using info in the "GlobalSettings" file, but couldn't find them, thus removed them from the list.
The first option is more likely. If you were in fact saving the configs to the FFS AppData folder, the uninstall process deletes that folder's data, as far as I am aware

Thank you xCSxXenon! I found the files (ending in ".fss_gui" in a standard folder I would use. It was so long ago that I don't remember picking the folder. I opened them all in the configuration window and they are now all listed again. Thank you! I have one other question. When I ran them all I noticed that the ones which had files to move provide a green checkmark when completed. However the configuration files which said all files compared correctly have a red X in Configuration list after running the compare, even though there were no files to synchronize. Is this a bug in the program? If compare was successful I would think a green checkmark should be shown.

A green check would mean success, so there was certainly an error. If you click the icon, it should open up the log file and tell you what went wrong

Compare was successful and after the search it said "no files to sync" and red "x" was displayed. But I found the cause of the error indication, even after a successful compare. It was after loading my old configuration files into FreeFileSync. If there is no prior sync recorded then even a valid compare will leave the error X, even after a successful compare. The error flag is not reporting an error in the compare but that the folder sets were not synced since loading the configuration. Once I sync them one time the error flag goes away. Evidently the compare does not show the green check, even if successful.
