I push updates to 64 servers using FreeFileSync(thru gdrive) and sometimes some of my servers are offline and it gives me all the IPs that are failed to connect but no names when prompted to Retry/Ignore. Its hard to know which it was. That I should go look at.
Same thing with errors updating files. I can mouse-over the right side of the screen on the failed parts and it will show me the IP address but no name. This means I have to do a mysql query to search through my database to see which name comes up for which IP.
Is there anyway to improve upon this?
Thanks, big fan of the tool for last 7 years.

If you tell FFS to access those machines via a hostname, that should achieve what you are looking for, right?

Sorry, I'm not looking for work arounds. This post is a suggestion for the developer, asking if they can utilize the already existing name label, which are customizable with color and spaces, as part of the error popup and error file list.

Your info isn't clear. Your initial post sounds like you want FFS to use the name of a machine in any error messages that are produced, but your response to me is talking about name labels that have customizable colors and spaces. That sounds like you might be referring to the name of the saved sync configuration? But if so, what does 'customizable with spaces' even mean? There is no part of FFS that is referred to as a "name label". And now I'm realizing you said that you use GDrive via FFS, which wouldn't be affected if any of the servers were offline, so that doesn't make sense. Are you using GDrive or IPs to push files to the servers?? Annnd if you are using IPs, FFS can't know what the name of a computer is if you only give it an IP and no name. I didn't suggest a workaround, just a proper way to achieve what you are seemingly trying to do.

This post is a feature request for the developer. So as long as they understand my request, then theres no need for you to better understand what I want in order to tell me how to achieve it via other means. This post wasn't intended for you. I'm just suggesting the developer could use the Name label in error messages to better understand which one errored as it is difficult for large syncs.

Your hostility and dismissiveness are quite foul. As I near 4000 posts on this forum, I feel as if I've obtained a decent sense of how to formulate users' complaints, issues, and requests so that the developer can see and interpret them as easily as possible. This leads to the dev having more time to code/test/fix instead of holding a user's hand to obtain concise and correct info/terminology, thus resulting in features/fixes quicker, win-win. From your pictures, I fully understand the issue you are having and how your proposal could remedy it. Regardless, as someone who contributes here for free and of my own will, you being an asshat is very unwelcome and is a quick way to be ignored by everybody, including the developer.

I'm sorry you feel that way. At no point in my posts was I rude. I wrote a neutral statement saying "Sorry, I'm not looking for workarounds-" and when you insisted nonetheless, I reiterated that this post is not a search for help from community members but rather a feature request intended solely for a developer. Re-reading my posts, I really don't see how it can be interpreted as hostile or foul. And I certainly don't believe I was being an asshat.
If a developer needs additional info, I'm happy to reply but otherwise I won't be replying to your posts to avoid unnecessary drama that is derailing this topic.
