Suggestion to have an personal edition with portable for one person; 2 or 3 years of updates or some decent amount of time. Or even a one person 5 years update.
As one of the main features is online parallel upload/download, presumably that is the thing to break, so to come back to donate all the time to get editions updates seems like a painstaking process.
Its a hassle for some people to organise this, and then this would be a one off payment for those who are regularly using it for personal use, or have it organised for them as a gift.
Could limit it to machines or users also, have as a second donation edition.
Having read that it comes with no updates, it seems not worthwhile to organise even for one machine, as the free edition updates.

In the past, up to about >2 year ago, the time during which you were entitled to updates depended on the amount you donated. For the donation edition this is no longer the case. That version no longer has a time limit during which users are entitled to updates.
For commercial or governmental use, there is now the FreeFileSync Business Edition, which has a time limit during which users are entitled to updates.
