hello,
I don't know if it's been discussed before and it's difficult to search do to the nature of terms,
but I think a text file compare differences function would be useful, for example I would like to have the option to compare the contents of a text file that is about to be replaced in Google drive,
maybe it's possible now and I'm missing it?

You could use e.g. WinMerge, as decribed here.

Wouldn't comparing by 'file content' do this?

That would only tell you if files are different or not; not in show you what those differences are.
WinMerge (or e.g. Beyond Compare) will show you exactly how and where files differ (for supported file types).

I see, I must have misunderstood OP's request. Setting up a custom command for an external application should work
