Will FreeFileSync re-transmit files if the remote site enables versioning?

My set up is:

Local Site ----------FreeFileSync-Mirror------> Remote Site (Versioning Enabled)
Note that the backup folder of the versioning is also on the remote site.

The instruction of versioning said:
Keep multiple versions of old files
Set deletion handling to Versioning and naming convention to Time stamp [File]. FreeFileSync will move deleted files into the provided folder and add a time stamp to each file name. The structure of the synchronized folders is preserved so that old versions of a file can be conveniently accessed via a file browser.

My question is:
1. Suppose now a new version of file is replicated to the remote site there a file with the same name already exists.
2. Since the remote site has versioning enabled, it will keep the older version in a backup folder.
3. Will the remote site locally copy the older version to the backup folder? Or the local site will re-transmit the file toward the backup folder on the remote site?

You enable versioning for an entire sync (or left-right sync pair), not just for your remote/right-side site.
This means all files deleted or updated(=overwritten) by the sync, whether they resided in the left or right location, will be moved to the versioning location, not just the right-side files.

Obviously, in a mirror sync deletions or updates occur just in the right-side location.
So, in your use-case only right-side items will be actually versioned.

Yes, my question is: How is this "move" done?
Will the local site transmit the file over the internet again?
Or the move happens within the remote site?

This makes huge difference if the file itself is large (say, larger than 10GB).

The file is moved, so retransmitting will only be required if the versioning location requires it. Locations within the same network share, usually, don't need data to be retransmitted and moving works fine
