I updated my complete hardware and software. On the new machine I installed FFS again, but now it is not the donation version. Don't know how to get back the donation version now. Zenju did not answer my mails.
Any help for me?

Donation version is gone

When you donate, he gives you a link to the donation version. You downloaded both of these and installed them. The donation version actually has two components: The EXE and a KEY file. I believe that he uses the KEY file as a finger print to enable the donation version. You have a great tool in FreeFileSync, and I would suggest getting an external HDD and backup all of your files, including any downloads before you update all your hardware and software.
In other words, when you got your version, you should have back upped the zip file that had both. Then you reinstall from the original download.
I've done software development, and Zenju has done an unbelievable amount of work to keep the package updated. Not answering somebody who lost their copy because they didn't back it up doesn't seem unreasonable to me. If he had a minute to focus on working the package or answering questions about somebody that lost their key, I would advise him to stick with keeping the working package going.
However, I am super happy you did donate. This is cool. if you want to have the donated version, it is extremely cheap:
If You lose the key, he has a "pay what you want" scheme. So, for $1, you an get another copy. Pay another $1 or whatever you think is fair and get another copy.

And after that, make sure to then retain a copy of the donation version installer file(s) and/or retain a link/shortcut to your personal download page.
The latter has the form of https://freefilesync.org/thank-you.php?tx=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, where XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is your 18 digit alphanumeric personal code.
With the retained installer files you can (re)install that version of FFS and then update from there; with the retained link/shortcut you can directly download the most recent version.
Downloading and retaining installer files (of every update) has the benefit you can revert to a specific earlier version, if that need ever arises.
Via your personal download page you can only download the most recent version. There is no possibility of downloading previous versions of your donation edition.

I did not understand the way, a donation version is marked to be that. (Btw imho a bit unusual). For that reason I did not backup anything in this direction.

The other thing that is interesting is that I don't think there isn't a difference between the free and the donated version. So, I think it is cool you are doing you part to help support him. Although I will state that he is probably making much less than minimum wage on this excellent package!
