i.e. "Drag and Drop" and <Browse>-Button.
This isn't due to comfy in first place,
but to assist to prevent accidental misspelling.
A small misspeling might not be noticed (most times it isn't, is it?),
and might lead to drastical effects.
(Syncing is an important operation).
So not as a "Feature Request", but a suggestion for improvemmnt :)

If you manually edit the Include and Exclude Filter rules, you allow the possibility of misspellings/typo's.
However, after running a Compare (in the FFS GUI) you can also Include or Exclude an item via the right-click context menu.
This eliminates the possibilities of misspelling/typo's.

Yes, as you wrote:
After manual edit and after running Compare.
I wouldn't call that "elimation the possibility of misspelling/ typos".
That is close to nothing compared to what I propose.

As I wrote, you can, but don't need to manually edit the Filter rules.
FFS provides a straight forward way to eliminate the risk of misspellings.
Perhaps not exactly in line with your hope/expectation, but it is there.

We're talking about the Filter dialog don't we?
I don't see how it should be possible to enter directories there other than
editing it by the hand. It's not there.
Please explain.
Let's take the example:
I included a source directory:
D:\test\source
And now I want exclude it's sub dir \23po/yll1ItwLIILlI/notWanted
by filter
How do I enter that if not by hand?
(You will notice small of "L" and capitol of "i")

You run a Compare, and in the Compare results you use the context menu by right-clicking a Compare result item. That item can be a file or a folder, and can be in the left or right side Compare results.
After right-clicking a Compare result item, you use the "Include via Filter" or "Exclude via filter" option and can then select to Include or Exclude all items with an identical extension, all identically named items, or the specific item.
Always the right format; no risk of misspellings.

You don't seem to understand - talking about something complete different.
You're explaining a way to do something that doesn't has anything to do with what I described.
Take my example.
However I stop at this point.

I believe I exactly answered your question.
To make it absolutely specific to your example:
• In the FFS GUI, define your source directory D:\test\source as your left base location, and your define your target location as your right base location.
• In the Synchronization settings (F8) choose the Mirror sync variant (assuming that is what you want).
• Run a Compare. This will give you the Compare results.
• In the left Compare results window, identify your \23po/yll1ItwLIILlI/notWanted subfolder, right-click it and in the context menu select Exclude via filter and select the desired form of your Exclusion.
(I you want, you can now open the Filter Settings (red Funnel-icon, F7) and verify that the Exclude rule has been added correctly)
• Done
And completely in line with my previous replies.
And if that is still not enough I will also stop.

Finally I understand what you mean.
Thanks for you endurance! :)
So I got it.
That is a way to use an affected sync object for filtering.
However... (sorry :) )
doing that way is not intuitve.
Building a synchronization setting I enter a source/ dest pair
and also the corresponding filter settings.
And doing this way I have to enter the filter settings manually.
Which is error-prone and cumbersome (compared to having
the same "Drag and Drop" and <Browse>-Button, just like
for the source/dest directory).
The way I have to do now (if avoiding manual entering):
Enter a source/dest pair.
Execute Compare (Only possible if source and dest are
available at the moment of constructing the setting!).
Search in the Compare result for the objects you have
in mind for filtering.
Context menu... etc.
Well... that's anything, but no intuitive way.
So why not add "Drag and Drop" and <Browse>-Button,
to have it just like for the source/dest directory.

So you can type in by hand, you can Paste, but cannot drag&drop... hmm.
(Hmm, cause I've never used the Filter settings.
Though in other programs, lack of drag&drop would be a hindrance, or at least less efficient.)
(You can d&d when setting up your directory pairs.
Suppose the only option there were to be to type in the paths by hand .)

Devaluating a well reasoned and explained proposal... that's all?
