I have been testing to see if the "detect moved files" is working and for me it seems not. I do have the "use database to detect changes" checked, I have run the process several times (it is not the first time). I have Windows 11 NTFS file system (which is supposed to support file IDs).

Another concern is that I'm not seeing a way do define the synchronize type (Mirror) as the default (as well as the other settings). Seems like one could easily launch it as 2-way accidentally. I have not donated anything as I'm still evaluating the software.

Thanks in advance,
Susan

Detect moved files works fine. How are you testing, what is it doing, and how are the results different from your expectations?

Changing default sync method isn't an option as far as I know. Syncing is usually a two-way process, and FFS is a syncing utility first and foremost. Alas, different opinions can all be valid but the person who creates the software ultimately decides lol

In systems with stable file-IDs "detect moved files" works fine, but only as long as you move any left-side files within your left-side location or any of its subfolders, or any right-side files within your right-side location or any of its subfolders.

As xCSxXenon wrote, you can not change the default sync variant into Mirror (for when pressing "New").
However, you can create a "template" sync configuration with all settings to your liking, and save that as e.g. CustomTemplate.ffs_gui.
Instead of pressing "New" simply open your custom template sync configuration file (or select its name in the Configuration window), modify what needs to be modified and save it as a specific *.ffs_gui or *.ffs_batch sync configuration file.
