There are several files which this software is refusing to sync. Any ideas as to why or how to fix this?

FreeFileSync (FFS) does not sync its "own" system files, sync.ffs_lock and sync.ffs_db.
FFS also has an In- and Exclude Filter feature.
The Exclude Filter is pre-filled with some entries corresponding to items that normally don't make sense to sync, and/or may give rise to synchronization issues.
You can edit the list of In- and Exclude Filter rules and add (or remove) rules according to your needs.
Additionally, by default FFS can not sync files that are locked by the OS or some other program.
You may be able to overcome that buy using Volume Shadow Copy.
