Hello,
I am putting downloaded podcasts onto my rockbox ipod. So far, everything has been working well, but my podcast downloader does not change file names when they are downloaded. Is there a way to bulk rename files with their respective episode names? Their episode names are tagged in the files, but I don't know if there is a way to use those tags.
Thanks!

But FFS's batch renaming doesn't allow to use file metadata for the replacements.

That’s what made me curious. Where it says “2”, that’s the episode name in the image. I want to specify what that 2 should be.Manual batch renaming exists:

I might just need a bulk renaming tool.

I've mp3tag to do this in the past, it can rename based on metadata/tags.
The rename feature in FFS isn't sufficient for this. It just finds the first character that exists in each filename, I think? And the placeholder thing is also confusing. I'm sure it's "fine" for very basic renaming, but for any set of files with dissimilar names, it's awful and I would never use it over dedicated rename utilities with so much many features and polish.

These dedicated bulk rename tools have the most miserable GUIs of all existing software. I cannot understand the mind that would prefer the following over FFS's pristine beauty of a rename function:

Thank you all for the help! I ended up finding my answer in gPodder, the podcast downloading app. There’s an extension that automatically changes the file name on download. I do that and then send it over to the iPod using FFS.
After I set up AutoFFS, I will have a fully automated workflow when my iPod docs!

Jesus, is that from the early 2000s? I've used Ant Renamer for a bit now, and I know there are others even better and more beautiful than that stillThese dedicated bulk rename tools have the most miserable GUIs of all existing software.
