Hi, I have started (on a new computer and a new install) to synchronize my external HD. I did not realize that the program starts with the Compare (as I understand what happened here, older versions just did what I wanted).
I was expecting the program to start the sync automatically as it was the part I configured and the button I clicked. I did other tasks in the mean time and I have not understood the prompt to start the sync.
So I waited and waited and it was not clear that the program was NOT in the sync modus (as I got back to the program window. Finally I clicked on the sync button again and the programs is chugging away the 2TB).
Please improve the interface to this transition (just pup up one button with an explicit message : the compare is done, {do you want to} start sync - or some such).
Thanks and cheers
René

I am using FreeFileSync (FFS) meanwhile for 14 years, and its functionality in terms of first Compare and then Synchronize has never changed in all those years.
If, in the FFS GUI, you click Compare, FFS does precisely that: it performs (just) a Compare.
You can then review the proposed sync actions, and change those where necessary.
Only after then clicking Synchronize is the actual sync performed.
However, if you click Synchronize without first having performed a Compare, FFS first performs a Compare and then goes straight on to perform the actual sync.
So, if you want to click just a single button, and have no need to review (and possibly modify) the proposed
sync actions, then simply just click Synchronize.

Dear Plerry,
Thank you very much. Many thanks. From your reply, I believe I clicked first on Compare and then I configured the synchronization and clicked on Synchronize.
So it seems the second click was not effective.
btw : the look and feel of the program on my new notebook is different (maybe that's why I got that impression). Sorry to waste the bandwith.
