I use version 7.6 of FreeFileSync on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit environment. I am the PC Administrator,
Since some versions, I noticed that FFS is not anymore able to copy some essential system files, no matter how you configure "file-safe copy", "Copy locked files", "Copy DACL, etc..." switches.
Disabling antivirus, firewall, Windows system protection would not help.
This is a severe problem, because the created copy is not any longer bootable.and the copy is incomplete.
Examples or non-copied essential system files are:
C:\Boot\BCD
C:\Users\Administrator.PC\ntuser.dat
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\ntuser.dat
C:\Windows\System32\config\default
C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM
C:\Windows\System32\config\SECURITY
C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE
C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM
So I looked back for old versions of FFS. The most recent that I found for Windows is v.5.0 (I don't understand why superior versions are only for Ubuntu, etc., but not for Windows: where can I find recent versions?).
With that software, I get all the files copied with no problems.
What happens? Can it be corrected?
Best regards,
ADG.
Locked files are not copied.

Sorry, I just found out that "copy locked files" was not activated in the settings!
Now it seems to work.
