My FreeFileSync 6.11 is hosted on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine, syncing files between that machine and between two other computers (Win 7 Pro 32-bit; Linux) on the network and mostly between USB drives.
When manually running a sync session (I don't use batch or schedule), sometimes all will go well, and sometimes FFS will halt. But when FFS does halt, the network service on the host PC seems to crash irrecoverably. Windows reports that the internet is not available, but the "Network and Sharing Centre" won't let me disconnect from the local network to try a dis- and re-connect. At that point Windows describes the network as "unknown", instead of calling it the normal "home network". The router is still running properly, with internet access, because the other computers can still talk to each other and access the web. The only way I have been able to get going again is with a reboot of the FFS host PC.
The issue mostly arises when I run a sync between the Linux machine and the 32-bit Win7 machine. This problem arose for the first time only a few weeks ago, but seems to be happening more frequently.
And if there is a way to extract log information that would help diagnose the problem, I'll do that if someone can tell me where to look.
Any help will be most welcome!

I updated to FFS 6.12 and thought for a while the problem was solved, but it's not. It's not definitely reproducible, but the crashes only occur when synchronising files on the Linux machine with a Windows 7 32-bit machine. Both those machines have the files on USB-connected external drives.
Can anyone help?

I just tried the problematic sync pair again - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit networking crashed requiring a reboot of the FFS host PC. I downloaded Microsoft Sync Toy 2.1 and ran the same pair - successful completion (but took an absolute age).
Any clues to help sort out the FFS problem, anyone?

I think I've stumbled on the solution! I had a fast ethernet switch in use, moved it and found another machine experienced network issues. The problematic sync pair that led me to start this thread now works properly again as long as the switch is not in use. I'd guess that sync pair would have been the only one to move enough data to cause the switch to fail.
