I am attempting to stay calm, but I just installed FreeFileSync 6.14. I have an external USB drive (1 TB) where I backed up all my picture from a dying computer. I decided to use FreeFileSync to move them to another computer there was 7 years of pictures (84 directories). A problem with reading a couple of files, so I cancelled to try to do only a few directories at a time. FFS told me the directories were drastically different, so I cancel and FFS proceed to put files in a RecyclingBin on the external drive.
Now I have 6 years of missing pictures ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Any ideas ?

Can't you move them back out of the bin?

When "Recycle Bin" is set up in deletion handling, FreeFileSync will not immediately move files to recycler during synchronisation. Instead it will first move these files to a temporary directory "RecycleBin" located in each base synchronization directory. Then after synchronization it will finally clean up and move the whole temp directory to the recycler. This clean up also happens when synchronization is cancelled, but of course only affects files that have been synced already.
The warning "following folders are significantly different" however is shown before synchronization starts, so cancelling at this point does not lead to any deletions because FreeFileSync is just doing preliminary checks.

Guess I will never use this for large folders.

Yea, not the sole problem(s) with FFS from what I researched & can see.
