I just downloaded the files for the first time and tried to run FreeFileSync and received this message:
FreeFileSync - An exception occurred
Installation Files are corrupted. Please reinstall FreeFileSync
Cannot open file "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\Install.dat"
Error Code 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
[CreateFile]
I am running Window 7 Home Premium Version 6.1
I have downloaded FreeFileSync multiple times and reinstalled it multiple times. Still get the same error message. Please help.

Maybe some other tool (overzealous AV?) is somehow interferring with the installation? No error messages?

I thought of that, but I can't find anything that would be interfering. Is there any way to get the install.dat and just plug it in?

No error messages during FFS installation?
What's your antivirus?
Look for install.dat in the quarantine section of your antivirus.

Thanks, but I don't have anything running that would prevent it from loading. There's nothing in quarantine to be able to dig out. And no error messages during FFS installation.

The next logical step is to have a look at a Process Monitor trace to see what's actually going on at a file system level: https://freefilesync.org/faq.php#trace
