Why FFS transitioned from Bundle to Package Installer?

I am currently using the FFS 9.9 version and i am wondering why the transition for the 10.0 version from Bundle release to Package Installer release? as a developer i am wondering how do i know which files are installed on my computer?

I have figure out there are several ways to see what files are installed from the package installer. One way is to do a snapshot before the installation and one after and use some comparing tools to seed the differences. Looks like the package solution was preferred because of the ability to run pre installation scripts checks(there are 4 scripts in the package).
