The FAQ does not list FreeFileSync as working on Fedora 28 (which is what I have installed as the source and target (with USB harddisk)).
I downloaded FreeFileSync 10.5 and placed it one of my user directories.
The qz file unzips. When I go into the FreeFileSync folder, FreeFileSync opens when I click on the FreeFileSync file.
It worked perfectly.
But it means I must navigate through some directories each time I wish to use it.
What is the proper way to "install" FreeFileSync on Fedora 28?

Basically what you did: put it anywhere you like. The next version will make things even easier by using stable config paths: viewtopic.php?t=5750#p19056

This is not an official way to install FreeFileSync on Fedora, but I have compiled the application in an rpm in a Community Packages Repo (copr) for Fedora: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/bgstack15/stackrpms/
