Sorry to ask such a possibly obvious question, but I'm experimenting with getting files off of a dying DROBO FS with it being directly connected (via Ethernet) to my desktop Mac, onto a USB 3 drive also directly connected to it. I'm currently (I think) selecting the "Mirror" commands to copy files and folders from the FS to the target folders on the USB drive, but I'm wondering if all of the language around "syncing" might also be "copy?" This is not a task I will repeat or keep needing synced in the future, but rather a one-time thing.
Am I using the best, fastest protocols for that? I just want to get the data off ASAP.
Will it also copy TimeMachine (.sparseimage) backups and .dmg files as well?
Does "sync," in my case, equal "copy?"
Is this running rsync under the hood essentially? I was going to try and run this in terminal, but got a little worried about correctly marking the folders and their paths and read about this cool app.
Much obliged!
Mick
