Hi,
First of all: Since I am new to this platform ánd to the program, forgive me if I make any mistakes in posting this, or I post a question that already has been answered for 10 times orso.
Today I installed FreeFileSync, because it got a great rating at DotTech.org
After setting it up, I want it to be able to sync my laptops with my server. The program is quite easy to use *(kudo's for that!)* and after copying all the files for the first time, I want to schedule it to run on a daily basis. RealTimeSync will be the next step, of course.
So, now my question is: how does it handle offline network shares?
I can imagine it doesn't do anything if the laptop is not available in the network.
To be sure though, I would like to ask if any of you knows what happens when a scheduled batch run (Task Scheduler) walks into a non-existing network share?
I've set up the sync to be a custom mirror, where files are deleted when they don't exist anymore and copied to the laptop if they are newer on the server. And the doom scenario I have in my head is that it deletes everything, if the network share is not available. So, does any of you have the experience already?
With kind regards & thanks for a great program in advance,
Timo
ps. sorry for the typo in the title... *I just noticed :-(*

FFS will exit sync with a "fatal error" in case the source directory is not existing/accessible which covers the case of temporary network drops. This means that even if you have set error handling to "ignore" you do not risk losing data. In general FFS is designed so that "ignoring errors" is safe and practically just means that no data is touched and the error is reported.
