I've set up a batch sync to copy all of drive C (System) and all of drive D
(Data) to two respective directories on a NAS. Of course there are many
exclusions on the system drive. It works fine. Naturally, the compare takes
a fair bit of time (about one-and-one-half minutes).
Now, I would like to use RealTimeSync with this batch, but it seems to call
the batch file repeatedly; as soon as one run is finished, another begins, and
sometimes there are actually two running at the same time (of course one is
locked until the other completes).
Many times when RealTimeSync starts a run, I can cancel the run and then use
FreeFileSync with the same batch file to do a compare, and I see that there
are no files to be copied. Yet some change has triggered RealTimeSync.
So perhaps the first question: does RealTimeSync honor all of the exclusions of
the batch file (for example, not excluding just an entire folder, but rather
excluding only certain files within that folder, if that's what the batch file
calls for), or does it trigger on any change to a watched folder, even if the
only change was to a file which the batch file excludes?

Files excluded in FreeFileSync, but not excluded from change monitoring is likely the problem in your case and yet a todo for RealtimeSync:

Thank you for the reply. Since that ticket is more than three years old with no activity, presumably one should not expect a resolution anytime soon.
This means that one cannot, in real time, monitor a directory with sub-directories, while excluding any file or sub-directory within it.
That is very unfortunate, since FFS is excellent in so many ways, requiring only a fully functional real-time component to best many commercial products which have that capability.
Regardless, I wish to thank the author for your hard work and dedication.
