Hi all,
After a (very quick) check in the forum I couldn't find any discussion concerning a user interface for the versioning (especially the retrieval of the older versions). If there is any please just through it at me. In case not:
I was wondering if there are any plans for a user interface to retrieve older file versions (like e.g. apples time machine, windows properties window, ...)? Or to put it in an other way: How do you manage to find old versions in the versioning folder?
Otherwise, I love the software since it does exactly what it promises and gives you full control over your files!
Best,
Stefan

Sounds like a nice feature to have. Ideas how this could look like are welcome.

This has been very briefly addressed before, but for now is still an interesting suggestion.
I would strongly suggest to use the Time stamp [File] Versioning method.
This means you can always find all (kept) previous versions of a file (if any) in your Versioning location, in the same folder-tree location (relative to the left and right sync base-location) as your original files.
And based on the Time-stamp, you can then select the desired previous version of a file.
If you would use the Time stamp [Folder] Versioning method, finding available previous versions is much harder.
But for now, restoring files is a manual activity.

Strongly support adding versioning - using the time-stamp method. This piece of software is a gem already as it is for my purposes - and this suggested new feature would make it even greater.
Thank you, Esa-Matti

@ Plerry: Alright, that is good to know, I'll read this thread. Thanks for the hint.
The reason why I'm asking is that I usually don't have to much knowledge about the state of all my files and how they change. If a software changes a file (e.g. some project definition files,...) I usually don't care about it. For that reason when I'm trying to restore an old state of a project I would have to know exactly which files are changed when and under which circumstances, which makes manual restoring quite cumbersome.
However, I have to admit, that versioning and restoring old versions is not my first priority concerning a back-up software (in contrast to a git/svn repository)
@ Zenju: Do you mean on a procedural level?
Thx to you all for the quick response.

It does not need to be added, it is already there and just needs to be used/activated. See here.Strongly support adding versioning - using the time-stamp method. ...emtolppanen, 02 Feb 2021, 15:14
My suggestion was to use the Time stamp [File] Versioning method rather than the Time stamp [Folder] method, as that seems easier for restoring.
