I run the shortcut from the desktop, I select source as C:\ Target is E:\
I am assuming that any file changes to a file on c: would be copied to the E:\ d (rive.
If i set this once, does the system remember this selection for future changes.
I have saved a simple jpeg file to c:\ saved photos folder ... (this is not the actual path.. just an example)
I saved this jpeg to the c:\ drive ... then waited for say 5 minutes ... then did a search for the file on the E: drive ... but it is not found... ??? Am I making bad assumptions about the RealTimeSync desktop shortcut.
what is really happening ...?? and how can I get the E:\ drive to perform like a mirror drive..
My E:\ drive is and external drive hooked to a fast usb port..
Please help.. Thanks
RealTimeSync does seem to sync all files

In the above, you mix up RealTimeSync (RTS), the tool for monitoring directories for changes, and FreeFileSync (FFS), the tool performing synchronization.
And, it is completely unclear what you have selected where.
Perhaps you should start by watching the (relevant) Tutorial video's.

I appreciate your reply. But, Whether we are saying FFS or RTS we are talking about file syncing.. FFS is activate in one way by using the dialog page for selecting what folders are to be synced, while RTS is similar but is used to sync in a real time -- constant monitoring of file change to also accomplish syncing .. one of this methods of syncing is "Mirroring", another is two-way syncing... I have looked at various videos to try to get mirroring to work... but still have not completely achieved the total desired effect.. you did not indicate any specific video.. so you may not have understood what i was trying to accomplish. I have since at least been able to generate a script that is in the Windows Startup folder and runs after boot up.
however it only runs once and then exits... that is still not what is described by the program and its possibilities... So I dont know if you dont know how to help me... or you just were being critical of a newbie user trying to recieve help to get a script set up that achieves what the program features says is possible. If you or someone can give me a script file that will use the entire C:\ drive as the source, the E:\ drive as the target, that starts at bootup, runs minimized, ignores errors, and once thru will first compare of files on both drives it will set in the background and will run after a set delay of say 5 to 10 seconds to sync any new or changed files on the C:\ drive. Thanks to anyone that can help me with this.
