When backing up files such as "Lóng_Filenämeß_©.txt" to some older network attached storage, they end up converted to "Long_Filenames_c.txt", probably because the NAS only supports SMB1 (now deprecated; SMB2 allows Unicode).
That means the files don't get recognized as being equivalents in FFS, even though the sizes, dates and even contents might be identical. I can copy them manually, and then tell FFS to ignore the files completely by adding *ü* and so on to the Filter list, but that still means there's no way of telling if/when they need to be resynchronized because the content/size/date has changed.
I know the 'ideal' answer would be to buy some new NAS... but is there any other workaround within (or in combination with) FFS?
