Hello!
Firstly - as a quick side note I just wanted to say that I really love FFS and have donated to developers multiple times - I really appreciate this free software, and quality of the FFS should be a benchmark to what a donationware should be. Thanks for your effort!
Now, regarding the question stated in the title of the topic - I'm using FFS on Windows 10 to sync a local folder to a mapped SMB network drive. I'm renaming folders quite often when sorting the files and improving the folder structure. I was wondering why every time when folder is renamed locally FFS deletes the whole folder and uploads it's contents from scratch? Due to size of the files in those folders this operation takes quite a lot of time. And, of course, this also makes it very confusing when a single renamed folder causes FFS statistics bar to show that X number of files have been deleted and X number of files are added - this makes it impossible to verify whether the correct amount of actually newly created files are being uploaded properly, because all the files in renamed folders adds to the number of "removed"/"created" files.
Is there a good reason behind this (like a limitation of SMB protocol, for example)? Can this be fixed in future or this is a limitation that we simply have to live with?
Thanks in advance! Cheers!
Why changing folder name causes FFS to delete and re-upload whole folder?
