Since the last one or two Windows versions of FreeFileSync (presently V.3.13
Win64), trying to MIRROR data from my hard drive to my online backup service
(Jungle Disk, which uses Amazon S3 servers) takes a VERY VERY LONG TIME
(always stating "Encoding extended time information" in FreeFilesync's
"Operation " field). Is FreeFilesync itself inserting the "Encoding extended
time information" message? Or is it generated by Jungle Disk / Amazon S3?
If it is FreeFilesync that is generating the "Encoding extended time
information" message: What does this do and why is it necessary? Or is it NOT
necessary but some setting that I have makes the program do so? I remember
that, in the program's ADVANED --> GLOBAL SETINGS menu, one could check or
uncheck a setting to take into account the 1-hour time difference inherent
between FAT & NTFS filesystems (for how they deal with daylight savings time)
but DO NOT see this setting anymore. Does using this "Encoding extended time
information" the methods that FreeFilesync uses now to deal with time
differences (instead of the earlier method)/
If this is not resolvable, I'll have to try using some other syncing program.
It just takes WAY WAY WAY TOO LONG to assess what needs to be mirrored (e.g.,
a directory-to-directory comparison that used to take 40 seconds to 1/5
minutes now is taking 15-20 minutes or whatever . . . if not longer). This is
unacceptable. What is my solution?

But I am encountering the same problem and would like to see an answer. :-)
Thanks!

Hi Zenju, thank you for getting back to me.
The version I am using is the latest version I can find:
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/freefilesync-portable
Is there anything else you can recommend?
Thanks!

Hi Zenju,
is there any special reason why you don't support portableapps? You built an amazing software and there are a lot of guys out there who you could reach if you fixed that bug(?). I am really curious about your answer!
