Hello,
I used to use SyncBack but I moved to mac so I am here now.
I would love the option of "prompt me" like SyncBack gives you when a file is in the destination but not in the source. Syncback also gives a "prompt me" option in other scenarios eg when a file is in the source but not in the destination or the same file has been changed in both source and destination.
FFS seems to give only 3 options: update, do nothing, or delete, but a "prompt me" would be really helpful!
"prompt me" option

I don't see how that is a useful addition?

Given that these options are available in Syncback, they have some use for certain people.
One example:
I have an external drive (source) with 50.000 or more songs that are synced with with my mac that contains a subset (around 1000) of these songs to play on DJ sets.
- If a track in on the source but not in the destination --> do nothing (as I don't want the other 49.000 tracks to pollute my mac SSD).
- Newer file overwrites older (in FFS terminology: left side newer --> update right & right side newer --> update left)
BUT in case there is a file on my mac SSD and not in the source external, I want to be prompted because I probably need to take some actions:
--> let's say at a certain moment a track that has been synced before seems to have a name that I want to change when I don't have my external with me (e.g. I change "The Beatles - Let It Be" into "Beatles, The - Let It Be" to make it consistent with DJ's general track filing name system).
--> In this case the new naming needs to be synced (so needs to be copied from destination (max SSD) to source (the external)), BUT ALSO I need to delete the old file in the source too, as it no longer needs to be there as it would be a duplicate song with just a different track name.
Hope this makes sense :-)

Gotcha. It's like a two-way sync, but only for a subset of files that could be constantly changing.

Sounds like this would be best solved by "Detect moved files" in "Update" mode: viewtopic.php?t=8296

Actually for the sync I want to do this option "Detect moved files" is not available because my settings are:Sounds like this would be best solved by "Detect moved files" in "Update" mode: viewtopic.php?t=8296 Zenju, 21 Jul 2022, 16:12
If item exists only on left side --> do noting
Left is newer --> update to right
Right is newer --> update to left
If item exists only on left side --> here I would like to get a prompt so I know I need to take action but for now I will select copy to left (and then hope that every time I change a track name, I immediately delete the old name; dj's often change the names of mp3s based on the MP3tags, which can be set in specific programs eg Tag&Rename for windows or Yate for mac). Anyway not a major issue as most of the times I try to get the MP3tags and names perfect before files get dragged into their final locations.
Thanks!
