Any forecast about when this could be implemented?

Every subdirectory I create on our server has the "wrong" access rights...

For us it would be very useful to be able to set the "Set GID" bit (i.e. 2777 instead of 0777). Is that possible? fappp, 19 Dec 2016, 07:32

FreeFileSync passes 0777 for directory creation. The 0755 is then caused by the server's umask.Zenju

I'm using the latest Windows Version of FreeFileSync with SFTP and private keys. On the other end, there is a Linux Samba server which I share with some other people. It works GREAT.

My question concerns the access rights given to directories which FFS creates on the server when synchronising ...

I just tested it and it works well. For a sync of about 45'000 files over a 6Mbps/6Mbps link, the file comparison was 20 times faster using SFPT than my VPN!

... the public/private key feature in SFTP is still not available in 8.0.

Some work colleagues and me need bitterly this function to get rid of our terrible VPN... and we wouldn't like to go back so SyncBack.

Sorry, I just found out that "copy locked files" was not activated in the settings!

The VSS problem has been fixed in the current beta:

I justed tried version 7.7 on Windows 10 64bit and it was still not able to copy my Outlook .pst files while Outlook was open. FFS ran in administrator mode.

You can parallelize the comparison phase by spliting the job into multiple folder pairs. Each pair is processed in a separate thread. This should reduce the latency, provided that Net Drive supports parallel access.

* Synchronisation of 50'000 local files with a server. Usually, only a few files have changed.
* Local: Windows 10 64 bit. Server: Samba
* Connection through a VPN (OpenVPN, UDP mode) or SFTP (SFTP Net Drive).
* Connection over WLAN and 4G-modem. Throughput usually ...
